National Insurance Registration Card
The National Insurance Corporation (NIC) wishes to inform members of the public that effective July 1, 2011, the green NIC Registration Card (R4) will become obsolete. The St Lucia National Identification (I.D.) Card will replace the green NIC Card (R4 Form) as the official NIC Registration Card. The NIC Number is printed on the Saint Lucia National I.D. Card which is issued by the Electoral Department. This is the six digit number on the top right corner of the card.
The Saint Lucia National I.D. Card has improved security features which include a picture of the registrant. Employers will therefore be able to verify the identity of persons who present themselves for employment.
Requirements for St. Lucian Citizens who already have NIC numbers
St. Lucian citizens who already have NIC numbers but are not in possession of the National ID Card are required to visit the Electoral Department. It will be necessary to present the following in order to receive the National Card:
Ø NIC Card (green R4 Card)
Ø A valid form of identification e.g. passport or driver’s license
Ø Original birth certificate or Birth and Baptismal Certificate
Ø Marriage certificate (for ladies whose names have been changed after marriage)
St Lucian citizens who are already holders of the National I.D. Card will not be required to visit the Electoral or NIC Offices. There is one EXCEPTION: if the number on the National ID Card does not match the number on the NIC card, the cardholder must report to the NIC Office.
Requirements for Non-Nationals who already have NIC numbers
All Non-Nationals who already have NIC numbers are required to visit the NIC Office. Persons will be required to present their green NIC Cards and a valid form of identification so that Non-National cards can be issued.
